The Council is dedicated to lessening
discrimination based on age, race, color, gender, religion,
creed, culture, socio-economic status, sexual orientation,
ancestry, handicap or disability; provides resources for referrals
and assistance to individuals and communities facing human
relations issues. Bucks County residents who have a concern
or inquiry regarding discrimination, harassment or hate crimes
are encouraged to contact the Council at the above number.
The diverse nine-member Council was first appointed by the
County Commissioners in December 1996.
24 hour phone line is monitored daily and calls will be returned
within 24 hours.

of prejudice and racism, hosting "Healing Racism Dialogues" for

provided in race-related situations and incidents.

Enforces PA's laws that prohibit
discrimination because of "race, color, religion, ancestry,
age (40 and above), sex, national origin, non-job related disability,
known association with an individual with a disability, possession
of a diploma based on passing a general education development
(GED) test and familial status"; covers employment, housing
and commercial real estate, public accommodations, education.
The Commission does the above by: 1) receiving, investigating, resolving,
and litigating formal complaints of discrimination filed by aggrieved
persons, 2) publicizing regulations and guidelines and providing technical
assistance to organizations or individuals in order to generate voluntary
compliance with the law, 3) providing programs in employment, housing,
public accommodation, education and community services for employers,
community groups, trade organizations, local governments, and realtors,
and 4) coordinating efforts to prevent and monitor racial tension.
