children of all ages with behavioral problems such as attitude,
physical or verbal abuse, substance abuse, irregular school
attendance/poor grades, runaway situations and other forms
of defiance of authority; led by parents who have had similar
family problems; confidentiality is essential; referrals provided
to additional community resources.

12-week one day a week program for young parents who want to
make a change; focusing on self-esteem, healthy lifestyles,
parenting skills, nutrition, cultural awareness; incorporates
First Step Motivational program to help participants get ready
for the work force. Child care, lunch, transportation provided.
Open to parents in Lower Bucks County. Four 12 week cycles
per year.

Parenting workshops on a wide range
of topics by Certified Parenting Educators; "Play & Share" group
meets weekly in small group sessions for parents to share concerns
and successes and ask questions while their pre-school children
have the opportunity to socialize. Also available are a lending
library, book discussion groups, audiovisual resources, and
individualized support from the Parenting Educators. Parents
of all ages can explore personal goals for parenting, learn
about their children's emotional and developmental needs, network
with other parents, and choose parenting approaches that correspond
with their own family values and goals.
This network of Parenting Resource Centers is a collaborative effort
of St. Mary's, Bristol Township, Neshaminy, and Bensalem school districts,
and the Latino Leadership Alliance of Bucks County.
Call the St. Mary's number for current programming and times
for all the sites.
Workshops are $5 per family, per session; scholarships are available,
if needed.
Play & Share and book discussion groups are free.

Self-help parenting program for
assistance, support, and empowerment; led by a parent member
and a professional facilitator; anonymity is a choice; confidential
except when suspected child abuse must be reported; program
is affiliated with national Parents Anonymous. Sponsored in
part by Delaware Valley Exchange Club for the Prevention of
Child Abuse, Head Start, and Bucks County Children & Youth
Social Services Agency. Groups meet weekly at:

weekend workshops and six week sessions, and an alternative
suspension school program is also available.
