A 23-year-old man who worked as a youth-group leader at a Middletown Township church received a maximum county prison sentence Monday after admitting he molested two teenage girls.

As part of a negotiated plea agreement, Michael Walusimbi of Bensalem pleaded guilty to two counts of corrupting minors and was sentenced to serve one day less than one year to one day less than two years in the Bucks County Correctional Facility.

Bucks County Common Pleas Court Judge Raymond F. McHugh, who accepted the plea agreement, also imposed a concurrent five years of probation and ordered Walusimbi to not work with minors.

The victims, who were 13 and 15 at the time, told police that Walusimbi had touched them sexually on separate occasions in 2016 inside Oxford Valley Chapel, 198 Bristol Oxford Valley Road.

The 13-year-old told police in September 2016 that Walusimbi had held her arms behind her back, bent her face-first over a table, pulled down her pants and rubbed his erect penis against her buttocks.

In October, the 15-year-old girl told police that Walusimbi had assaulted her sometime during the latter part of summer. She said that Walusimbi had held her arms behind her back, pushed her face-first onto a table, and whispered in her ear that someday she would call him a pedophile.

The girl said she then managed to kick her leg backward and break free from Walusimbi.

In a statement submitted to the judge, the younger victim wrote that the incident “really messed up my life. I got harassed and hurt because of what he did.”

The girl said she is still in therapy because of Walusimbi’s actions, adding that “no other kid deserves to be so messed up and feel so much hate towards themselves because of one guy.”

Walusimbi declined to speak in court.

The case was investigated by Middletown Township Police detectives and prosecuted by Deputy District Attorney Antonetta Stancu.
