The Bucks County District Attorney’s Office is investigating the fatal shooting of a criminal suspect early this afternoon in Bristol Township.

The identity of the decedent, a male in his late 20s, is not being released pending notification of his next of kin.

The incident occurred around 12:15 p.m. on Edgeley Road, just south of Runway Road, where Bristol Township Police responded to a vehicle with New York plates that had been sitting on the side of the road for an extended period of time.

The individual driving the vehicle was wanted by authorities in New York for a stabbing there.

The driver confronted police by approaching officers with a weapon. Multiple shots were fired by police, striking the wanted individual.

The man was taken to Jefferson Torresdale Hospital, where he was pronounced dead this afternoon.

County detectives assigned to the Bucks County District Attorney’s Office are investigating the circumstances of the shooting, which is standard procedure whenever deadly force is used by law enforcement officers in Bucks County.

Additional details will be released as they become available.
