POSITION SUMMARY:

Responsible for organization, direction and implementation of the Recreation Activity Program that provides an on-going program of meaningful activities designed to meet (in accordance with the interdisciplinary assessment) the interests and the physical, mental and psychosocial well-being of all residents.  This program must be in compliance with all federal, state and local regulations.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for the coordination and establishment of monthly activity calendar/programs designed to meet the needs, capabilities and interest of all residents.
  • Coordinates specialized monthly events to enhance the activity programs.
  • Coordinates trip/travel events to offer residents community interaction.
  • Coordinates transportation for community outings.
  • Maintains open communication with staff, especially social work, nursing and therapy departments with regard to residents’ appropriate participation.
  • Coordinates special event entertainment.
  • Responsible for reimbursement procedures for entertainment, and helping to maintain the department budget.
  • Maintains department computer compliance with ECS.
  • Oversees the development of the daily printed schedules.
  • Coordinates printing format for monthly calendars and compliance.
  • Attends meetings that pertain to the administration and operation of the activities program.
  • Holds a valid driver’s license.
  • May be required to perform additional work that follows prescribed or well-established procedures that can be learned within a reasonable time by training on the job.More detailed instructions as to the nature of their duties will be given to employees at the beginning of work.

Any combination of experience and training which affords the applicant an opportunity to gain the above listed knowledge, skill and ability.

  • Minimum of one to three years’ working experience with geriatric population.
  • College credits in the healthcare field.
  • Certification or eligible for certifications approved by the State such as Activity Director certified by the National Certification for Activity Professionals.
