POSITION SUMMARY:

Schedules, coordinates, and assists with Outpatient Services as requested by each patient's physician. Oversees and monitors employee health requirements as per Department of Health regulatory requirements. Reports to the Director of Nursing for all services provided through the Outpatient Department.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Directs staff in the following areas:Schedules laboratory tests and maintains the log book of tests ordered at specific intervals for each patient. Maintains the storage control of specimens to be sent to laboratory and sometimes transports a specimen/s to the hospital at physician’s urgent request.
  • Prepares billing forms to accompany each specimen to the laboratory.
  • Schedules and performs resident pacemaker checks.
  • Schedules EKG's, portable X-rays as ordered by physician.
  • Schedules outpatient procedures to be performed in other settings and makes appropriate ambulance arrangements for these appointments.
  • Coordinates and monitors patient data for patients to be admitted to the hospital for surgical procedures.
  • Coordinates and maintains the clinic schedule/calendar for all ancillary physician services.
  • Monitors employee health files, including the TB/Mantou/X-ray pre-hire screening and immunization program to ensure pre-employment and ongoing health requirements are met.
  • Maintains all CLEA requirements, including documentation and testing of medical equipment requirements
  • Orders and maintains equipment and supplies as needed in the clinics and laboratory.
  • Receives and forwards test results and reports for outpatient services to the appropriate disciplines.
  • May be required to perform additional work that follows prescribed or well-established procedures that can be learned within a reasonable time by training on the job.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

  • Licensed Practical Nurse
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Experience in clinic procedures, EKG's and other cardiac testing procedures.
  • Experience in computerized scheduling, computerized insurance authorizations, hospital and SNF based medical records
  • Proficiency in facility’s electronic medical record (ECS).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Excel.
