POSITION SUMMARY:

Performs routine manual labor tasks in maintaining General Service’s locations in attractive, clean and sanitary conditions.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Performs germicidal cleaning of General Services, miscellaneous equipment and office areas.

  • Sweeps and mops all floors and stair areas and strips and waxes floors.

  • Empties trash baskets and ashtrays and dusts furniture, baseboards, windowsills, etc.

  • Washes walls and light fixtures as required.

  • Cleans lavatories and bathrooms and maintains supplies for them.

  • Periodically removes and rehangs curtains and draperies for washing and/or dry cleaning.

  • Cleans outside patio and exit areas.

  • Employees may be required to perform additional work that follows prescribed or well-established procedures that can be learned within a reasonable time by training on the job.  More detailed instructions as to the nature of their duties will be given to employees at the beginning of work.


    QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Must be able to read and write.

  • Ability to understand and follow oral and/or written instructions.

  • Ability to operate simple cleaning equipment.

  • Ability to get along with various types of people.

  • Physical ability to perform required tasks.
