POSITION SUMMARY:

Senior management position responsible for the budget preparation, fiscal management, personnel training and development of long and short term plans relating to the Department of Corrections.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for preparing the departmental budget in order to operate efficiently and effectively.
  • Prepares monthly budget analysis and serves as an advisor on all departmental fiscal matters.
  • Monitors capital equipment purchases.
  • Supervises and maintains internal fiscal control and assists with the purchases for the department as required.
  • Serves as a liaison with the Controller and County Finance Director’s office.
  • Develops and implements departmental fiscal policies and procedures in accordance with County guidelines.
  • Performs and prepares fiscal studies and statistical reports that result in more effective operations within the Department.
  • Supervises and manages all functions of the Business Office including personnel and work assignments.
  • Performs similar or related duties as required.

  • Master’s Degree in business or accounting or a Bachelor’s Degree in business or accounting with a minimum of five (5) years in County Corrections.
  • Related supervisory/business or accounting experience.
  • Knowledge of Corrections.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
