POSITION SUMMARY:

Provides policy and direct line supervision to Community Corrections staff.  Insures accountability for all security, to include uniformed staff, work release and treatment programs at the Community Corrections Centers. Responsible for the overall operation of the Center. This position reports directly to the Superintendent.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for the security of the facilities coordinates with lieutenants daily to discuss pertinent information relating to the facilities.
  • Directs and monitors the day to day operation of the facilities to include custody, sanitation, maintenance, supervision and program staff.
  • Serves as one of the Department Duty Officers (DDO) after hours.
  • Provides supervision to the management team responsible for all community operations.
  • Reviews all cases in the minimum custody or community custody levels of confinement to ensure appropriate placement of offenders within the facility.
  • Ensures compliance with all applicable standards including ACA and Title 37.
  • Provides information to the superintendent regarding budgetary issues to include the management of overtime and staff hours and schedules of the Community Correction Centers.
  • Responsible for grant development and management.
  • Chairs various ad-hoc committees that relate to operations and programs.
  • Performs other special assignments, projects, investigations and other tasks as required by the Superintendent or Director.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree (preferably in Criminal Justice or a related field) and training.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of correctional supervision experience.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills, with a clear understanding of Corrections, to include the
  • Community Corrections environments and structures.
  • Thorough knowledge of the functions, rules and requirements of a criminal justice system.
  • Familiar with the use of department data and analysis computer programs i.e. Inmate management services (also including telephone, commissary) staff timekeeping systems, life safety, security, and building control systems, etc.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
