POSITION SUMMARY
:

Performs a variety of clerical and/or secretarial duties including, but not limited to, transcribing dictation from tapes as well as performing related office duties.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Transcribes dictation of a legal nature accurately and efficiently.
  • Prepares all types of legal documents and assists in preparing cases for court and hearings.
  • Maintains complete and accurate records and files.
  • Receives telephone calls, answers questions and screens visitors.
  • Plans, organizes and carries out the workload that is assigned.
  • Types legal correspondence, orders of court, legal documents and other related typing duties as required.
  • Organizes and schedules appointments and/or hearing dates and makes certain they are kept or rescheduled.
  • Assists in the compilation of information, reports and programs.
  • Must be extremely discreet and work independently.
  • May be required to perform additional work that follows prescribed or well-established procedures that can be learned within a reasonable time by training on the job.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

  • High school education with several years secretarial experience.
  • Proficient in MS Word and Excel, with a keyboard speed of 45 wpm.
  • Dictaphone experience.
