POSITION SUMMARY:

Assist with the planning and response efforts of the Public Health Preparedness Program.  Assist with communicable disease surveillance and investigations.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Expand Bucks County’s public health preparedness planning efforts. These activities include but are not limited to:
  • Serve as liaison to professional and community groups for preparedness and response planning and training activities
  • Conduct risk communications planning and training
  • Develop preparedness outreach and communication materials distributed through a variety of platforms such as community newsletters, social media, emergency messaging.
  • Conduct pandemic flu planning
  • Conduct planning specific to addressing the needs of individuals and groups with access and functional needs
  • Fill other program planning gaps as identified by programmatic reviews
  • Performance of routine communicable disease investigations and disease outbreak investigations. Observes, interprets, records and reports case findings within PA-NEDSS.
  • Conduct training needs assessments for department staff and volunteers and implement workforce development plan.
  • Assist with Medical Reserve Corps activities, including trainings, community events, and providing organizational support.
  • Ensure the activities and planning elements completed are in line with local, state, and federal requirements, including the 15 PHEP Capabilities.
  • Participate in other program activities such as program assessments, POD assessments, closed PODs, and other preparedness planning.
  • Assist in planning program related drills, exercises, meetings, and other related activities.
  • Assist with developing and updating public health emergency response plans based on identified program needs.
  • Attend local, regional, and state meetings as necessary.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers and representatives from other agencies and organization, which includes regional planners, state and local emergency responders, and member of the community.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing with the ability to draft and conduct information presentations.
  • Assist with community resilience planning and outreach programs.
  • Carry out assigned emergency duties which may occur during off-hours including holidays and weekends.
  • Perform other related duties and responsibilities that may be assigned..

  • Master’s Degree in Public Health with a background in Epidemiology and/or Public Health Preparedness is preferred.
  • Possess good verbal and written communication skills and ability to express ideas clearly and concisely.
  • Comfortable with public speaking.
  • Possess computer knowledge and skills with the ability to utilize and apply software in the analysis and study of epidemiology and exercise data.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and have use of a personal vehicle.
