POSITION SUMMARY:

Provides Spanish interpreting services for the Bucks County Court of Common Pleas.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Translates/Interprets orally for parties conversing in the Spanish language.
  • Create and maintain database of AOPC certified bilingual/multilingual interpreters.
  • Enters Interpreter verification into the Language Access Data Collection “LADC” for the AOPC.
  • Schedule interpreters throughout the court system as needed.
  • Obeys all safety rules and regulations.
  • Performs similar or related duties as required.Other duties may be assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

  • High school diploma.
  • Fluent in Spanish.
  • AOPC certification preferred for interpreting Spanish.
  • Familiar with court terms and procedures.
  • Must be detail oriented.
  • Must be proficient and have knowledge of a variety of computer software applications in word processing, spreadsheets, database and presentation software (MSWord, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint).
  • Keyboard skills – minimum 35 wpm.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit.  The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms; and talk and hear.  The employee is occasionally required to use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls.  The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
