POSITION SUMMARY
:

Performs a variety of accounting functions in relation to the County Lodging Room Rental Tax.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversees and maintains the Lodging Room Rental Tax collection system.
  • Processes and records receipts for Lodging Room Rental Tax.
  • Responsible for the collection and disbursement of the tax.
  • Organizes, develops and maintains periodic reports of the Lodging Room Rental Tax Account indicating monies collected or reasons of exemption.
  • Communicates in person, by telephone, and by e-mail with hotel management to expedite information and answer questions relating to the rules and regulations of the tax.
  • Files incoming and outgoing correspondence and documents.
  • Reports unusual conditions or questionable items to supervisor.
  • May be required to perform additional work that follows prescribed or well-established procedures that can be learned within a reasonable time by training on the job.More detailed instructions as to the nature of their duties will be given to employees at the beginning of work.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • College courses and/or certified courses in accounting or banking.
  • Knowledge of account principles and procedures.
  • Knowledge of Lodging Room Rental Tax Laws and Regulations.
  • Typing skills – minimum 30 wpm.
  • PC Skills (Excel, Access, Word, Infor/Lawson).
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work efficiently without direction.
