POSITION SUMMARY:
Performs various clerical duties including typing, composing letters and reports, etc. as well as performing duties as the Alarm Coordinator.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for maintaining / managing the Bucks County Central Station database located in the 911 Communications Center.Responsible for maintaining / updating all confidential information,maintaining and updating all Transmitter information; adding newly installed Emergency alarm systems as they are installed in County structures; organization of maintenance and repairs of all Bucks County Emergency alarm systems; and other associated duties as required of the Central Station.
  • Maintain and update Emergency Contacts for all Bucks County’s Emergency alarms system location.
  • Input and maintain all Central Station Emergency Instructions.
  • Insure central station software vendor is current with maintenance contract for central station system.
  • Manages all Emergency Transmitters so they are functioning and kept up-to-date.
  • Adds new emergency alarms systems to current Central Station as needed.
  • Insure all Bucks County owned emergency alarm locations are tested annually and on-going maintenance is kept up-to-date.
  • Available to be called upon after hours to work on Central Station computer when necessary.
  • Types, files, and copies communications and performs general office work for the department.
  • Answers, relays and replies to telephone / email and any other form of communication.
  • Maintains database for all Fire Marshal data including mailing lists, inspections, investigations and monthly and yearly reports.
  • In accordance with Fire Marshal, authorizes, manages and secures all purchase requests, material receiving, petty cash and maintains financial bookkeeping (Lawson) recordkeeping for department.
  • When required staff the Bucks County EOC.
  • Compiles and maintains statistical data on all fire marshal department activities including but not limited to: fire investigations, safety inspections, Juvenile Firesetter Intervention Program, court appearances, depositions, etc.
  • Maintains confidentiality of files, programs and safety inspections.
  • Enters weekly time records for department personnel using Lawson Computer system.
  • Maintains workstation or area in a clean and orderly manner.
  • When authorized by Chief Fire Marshal, attends related meetings and takes minutes.
  • Maintains statistical data for development of annual report of departmental activities.
  • Other duties as they may be assigned necessary to the operation and functionality of the office operation.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Associates Degree preferred.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite computer program including Microsoft Word,
  • Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Access and Microsoft Power Point.
  • Knowledge of fire, burglar and panic alarm system type operations and management.
  • Knowledge of the Lawson computer system preferred.
  • Budget experience helpful
  • Typing skills – minimum 45 wpm.
  • Knowledge of modern office practices.
  • Ability to work independently without direction.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentially.
  • Possess a command of the English language and the ability to assimilate technical terminology specific to the department.
