Home Elevation Program

As part of the ongoing efforts to stop the effects of flooding in our area,Bucks County has enacted a highly successful buyout and elevation program along the Neshaminy Creek watershed, under which 100 homes have been razed and converted to open space, while another 75 have been elevated. The Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) has partnered with Bucks County in the venture, which has allowed for residents who have selected elevations to remain out of harm’s way during several recent floods.

The Bucks County program is a means by which to permanently solve the problem while reducing costs to homeowners, municipalities and the federal government.

According to Richard Manna, project director, the federal government identifies priority lists for elevations, flood-proofing and buyouts based on the criticality of the property. They base their list on previous damage severity.
