SUMMARY: Responsible for directing the overall maintenance of County parks. Supervises the activities of workers engaged in development, protection and utilization of County parks by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate supervisors.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
- Plans and schedules annual maintenance program priorities of future budget requirements.
- Works with Maintenance Supervisors, field forces and private contractors in carrying out projects to their completion.
- Expedites field purchases for materials, supplies and equipment.
- Prepares estimates of costs to plan and provide or improve recreation and visitor safety.
- Develops in-service training programs pertaining to safety, equipment maintenance, turf maintenance, tree maintenance, chemical uses and similar work-related programs.
- Prepares periodic reports as required.0
- Performs similar or related duties as directed.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with personnel.
- Ability to read, analyze and interpret technical procedures or governmental regulations.
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from employees and the general public.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
- Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
- Ability to plan and supervise the work of maintenance personnel.

- Bachelor's Degree in related field or equivalent work experience.
- Experience in park maintenance and construction including both land and building with a knowledge of supplies, machines, construction, supervision and minor landscaping practices.
