SUMMARY: Responsible for safeguarding individuals, buildings, materials, and equipment against fire, trespass, theft and other hazards.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
- Patrols in vehicles and on foot public property, including offices and institutional buildings by making rounds inside and outside buildings and other county installations.
- Ensures all buildings and properties are secure and free from water, electrical or life safety issues.
- Directs visitors to proper offices and admits and permits authorized personnel to enter and leave premises. This may require searching and wanding individuals.
- Completes computer generated security reports, forms and conducts investigations.
- Directs traffic.
- Makes arrests and detains individuals.
- Provides emergency assistance and first aid.
- Issues parking citations.
- Obeys and enforces all safety, County and criminal infractions.
- Reports unusual conditions or questionable items to supervisor.
- Performs similar or related duties as required.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. - High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of one year police or security guard experience or related military service.
- Must possess Act 235 (Lethal Weapons Training).
- Must remain in good condition, both physically and mentally and capable of working shift work and overtime.
- Mature and courteous manner is essential.
- Must be familiar with and understand the Force Continuum. Required to carry weapon, taser, and OC spray.
- Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license.
- Equivalent training/experience/education will be taken into consideration.
- Must pass a pre-employment physical fitness test.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
