Volunteer Opportunities

AREA AGENCY ON AGING
Retired Senior Volunteer Program – RSVP provides opportunities for older adults age 55 and over to engage in services that address educational, public safety, environmental, health/nutrition, economic development and other human needs to achieve direct and demonstrable results.

Samples of volunteer activities include: disaster relief, health insurance counseling, tutoring, medication and drug education for seniors,telephone reassurance, senior center-based nutrition programs, driving for home-delivered meals program, hospital service and intergenerational projects.

Volunteers serve BCAAA through Project Meds (Medication Education Designed for Seniors),                      APPRISE insurance counseling program and home delivered meals.

RSVP volunteers receive-free volunteer placement. Opportunity to use their experience and skills;               Chance to learn something new every day; Excess accident and liability insurance; Recognition; and the satisfaction of knowing they make a difference.  RSVP is part of the National Senior Service Corps and is administered by the Corporation for National and Community Service.Telephone:  215-348-0510 ext. #6116

BEHAVIORAL HEALTH
Bucks County Behavioral Health System Volunteer Opportunities:  Parent and/or Youth participation in various service planning activities. Annual (spring) Resiliency Conference and Resource Fair – Planning and Staffing. Annual (fall) Recovery Conference – Planning and Staffing. Mentoring adults with mental illness: Compeer program of Mental Health Association of SE PA. CHILDREN & YOUTH
Bucks County Children and Youth Agency Volunteer Program has been in existence for 20+ years.  Individuals may apply to volunteer with children, adolescents, or parents serviced by the agency.  Volunteer roles including: tutoring, mentoring, and life connection visitor for both children and parents. Additional program involves
mentoring of youth in foster care toward school success and post secondary education.

An application and training process is required also includes a FBI criminal clearance and state child abuse clearance before anyone is approved.

Foster parents are not considered volunteers however the need and value of their services is tremendous.  Foster parents are needed by the agency to provide substitute care taking of children, in foster care with the agency.  Opportunities to foster parent include providing respite care, emergency care, foster-adopt and long term care.

DRUG & ALCOHOL
Do NOT have any direct volunteer opportunities.
BUT – Bucks County Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence, Inc. and its grass-roots advocacy program PRO-ACT seek volunteers to assist in all aspects of prevention, intervention, and recovery support services.  The Mission of The Council is to provide resources and opportunities to help those impacted by the disease of addiction. Mentors for Prison Re-entry Population (ongoing, routine contact as needed) to work in tandem with a team to provide practical support and recovery guidance to those re-entering the community after incarceration at BCCF.
