Notary Information
Please note: Refer all questions concerning the application to either your State Senator or Pennsylvania Department of State.
A notary public applicant must meet the following eligibility requirements for an appointment:
- Be at least 18 years old
- Be a resident of or be employed within the Commonwealth
- Be of good character, integrity and ability
Application, Process and Instructions
To be sworn in as a Notary Public, you must bring your bond and photo ID to the Recorder of Deeds office. The fee for swearing in is $40.50; your bond will also be recorded. Upon completion, you will be directed to the Prothonotary's Office to have your signature registered ($3.75 fee).
