The property is not available for tour or inspection. The buyer gets the property “as is”, caveat emptor (let the buyer beware). The Sheriff’s Office does not have Information on liens or taxes.

Do I need to register to bid at the sale?
- No, it is an open auction.
How do I obtain a copy of the sale list?
- The sale list may be purchased for one ($1.00) in the Sheriff’s office at the courthouse (215-348-6132); it is also available at both the Government Services Center, Levittown, (215-949-5800) and the Quakertown office (215-536-4289). Please contact these offices to verify their hours of operation.
- The list can also be accessed from the links at the bottom of this page.
What is the meaning of the dates on the side of the list?
- OFF – will not be sold - is OFF the list for that month, may appear in later months.
- ADJOURNED(Date) – postponed to a future date for various different reasons i.e. bankruptcy filed by defendants, service not complete, agreement between mortgage company and defendants, etc.
- FROM for example 3/10/2006 – was originally scheduled for that sale , never actually went to sale and was adjourned (postponed) for above reasons.
How do we access the docket number (writ of execution number) on the Prothonotary screen?
- You must enter the first nine (9) numbers of the case i.e. 200406858. This will access the writ of execution number.
What are the monies to be paid by the buyer at the time of sale?
- 10% of your successful bid in either a bank check or cash. We suggest you make your check out to yourself. If you are successful bidder, you then sign your check over to the Sheriff of Bucks County.
- Your balance is due in 10 calendar days, no extensions. This is paid in the Sheriff’s office in the courthouse.
How often are the sales held?
- Sheriff sales are held every 2 nd Friday of the month, with the exception of the second Fridays that fall on a day the courthouse is closed.
Where are the Sales held?
- Sales start 11:00am and are held in the James Lorah Auditorium, 132 North Main Street, Doylestown, PA 18901 (corner of Broad and Main Sts.) directly across from the courthouse.
How soon after the purchase, will our deed be recorded?
- The deeds are recorded within our timeframe, approximately two (2) months from the date of the sale.
How often is the sale list updated with OFF and POSTPONED?
- The list will be updated Monday through Friday, excluding holidays, by 10 am.
How do I find out the results of the sale?
What are the publications where the homes are advertised?
- We advertise in seven (7) different newspapers based on municipality and also the Bucks County Law Reporter starting three (3) Thursdays prior to Sheriff sale.
