Community Information

As the elected Clerk of Courts for the past 20 years, Mary K. Smithson has taken an active role in the community through numerous endeavors.

POW/MIA Chair of Honor

In 2015, Mary Smithson procured a POW/MIA Chair of Honor which sits empty in the lobby of the Justice Center as a solemn reminder of the sacrifice of more than 90,000 U.S. service members who remain classified as POW/MIA. Accompanying this chair is a plaque with these words: "You are not forgotten.  Since World War I, more than 91,000 American soldiers are unaccounted for. This unoccupied seat is dedicated to the memory of these brave men and women and to the sacrifices each made in serving this country. God Bless You. God Bless America."

Every year, Mary Smithson helps to facilitate and participates in the Honor Flight to Washington DC with Bucks County Veterans. This Honor Flight is dedicated to transporting United States Military Veterans to see the memorials of the respective wars they fought in Washington DC at no cost to them.

Recognition of Bucks County Artists

It is with great pride that Mary Smithson has focused on recognizing talented artists within Bucks County for the past several years.

She works with school districts in Bucks County to showcase artwork of students’ grades elementary through high school. These aspiring young artists have their work displayed in the Justice Center located in Doylestown, for the community to enjoy and receive recognition from the President Judge of the Court of Common Pleas.
