Upper Bucks Man Sent to State Prison for Child Sex Crimes

December 14, 2016

Contact: Kristin McElroy, 215.348.6336, kmmcelroy@buckscounty.org

An Upper Bucks County man who admitted sexually abusing two girls in separate incidents was sentenced Monday to serve four to 10 years in state prison.

Glenn Joseph Straub Jr., 37, of Milford Township, had entered a negotiated guilty plea on Aug. 24 to charges of aggravated indecent assault of a child, indecent assault, indecent exposure and unlawful contact with a minor.

A 12-year-old girl reported that, while visiting Straub’s then-residence in Dublin Borough last summer, she was assaulted by Straub in the room where she was sleeping. She told police that he grabbed her breast and digitally penetrated her vagina while she repeatedly told him to stop.

Another girl, also 12, reported that Straub had masturbated in front of her inside his Dublin home last year.

When confronted by police in February, Straub admitted that the girls’ accusations were true.

Straub’s sentencing was deferred so that he could be evaluated by a member of the state Sexual Offenders Assessment Board. The evaluator found that he did not meet the criteria to be declared a sexually violent predator, but Straub nonetheless will be required to register with police as a sex offender for the rest of his life.

One of Straub’s victims was present for his sentencing. She spoke angrily about his actions.

“You made me insecure about myself and (being around) other boys,” she said. Later, she added: “I hate you and I always will.”

Straub told Bucks County President Judge Jeffrey L. Finley that his behavior was an aberration for him, and resulted from his having been extremely intoxicated at the time.

“Nothing was meant to be malicious about this,” he said. “I learned my lesson.”

Finley accepted the negotiated sentencing recommendation of four to 10 years. He directed that Straub receive sexual offender treatment in prison and have no further contact with the victims.

The case was investigated by the Dublin Borough Police Department and the Bucks County Detectives, and prosecuted by Deputy District Attorney Kristin McElroy.

Approved for release by Michele Kelly Walsh, Deputy District Attorney.
