16-YEAR COUNTY EMERGENCY COMMUNICATIONS EMPLOYEE
HELPS SAVE TODDLER'S LIFE
When 911 operators answer the phone, "911, what is your emergency?" they
never know what to expect, but are always ready to assist. Yesterday,
supervisor Scott Molle, a 16-year 911 veteran talked a Middletown
mother through the process of administering rescue breaths to her
two-year-old son after she called for help because he stopped breathing.
Once Molle determined the toddler wasn't breathing, he instructed the woman
to remove the child's shirt, pinch his nose, tilt his head back, and give two
breaths. To everyone's relief, her son began to breathe, just as Middletown
Township police arrived on the scene.
John Dougherty, Bucks County's Emergency Management director, commended Molle
for his composure and proficiency, which allowed him to assist in saving the
toddler's life.
