Commissioners Appoint Purchasing Director
Maureen McIlvaine, 25-Year County Veteran, Named to Post
Today, the Bucks County Commissioners appointed Maureen Wilson McIlvaine as
director of the Purchasing Department. McIlvaine has been the assistant director
since 1995, and has served as acting director of the department since Bill
Lyle's departure earlier this year.
Not long after she was appointed as assistant director, McIlvaine was recognized
as one of three recipients of the Commissioners' Award of Excellence. She has
held progressive leadership roles with the Pennsylvania Public Purchasing Association
Chapter of the National Institute of Governmental Purchasing (NIGP), including
secretary/treasurer, second vice president, first vice president, and currently
president, a position she was elected into by her peers across the Commonwealth.
McIlvaine holds CPPO (Certified Public Purchasing Officer) and CPPB (Certified
Professional Public Buyer) certifications from the NIGP and Universal Public
Purchasing Certification Council, and has attended the Leadership and Supervision
Certification Program at Bucks County Community College. She is charged with
a staff of 14 in Purchasing, the print shop, and mail room. The county's newest
department head reports to Brian Hessenthaler, Finance division leader.
"Maureen has proven her abilities in spades over the last decade," noted Chairman
Charles Martin. "We are confident in her professionalism and leadership, and
we offer our congratulations to her this morning."
A resident of Jamison, McIlvaine was among five candidates who were considered
for the advertised position.
