Commissioners Approve Land Grant
The Bucks County Commissioners today approved a $72,228 municipal
open space grant that will be used to create a park in the heart
of New Hope Borough.
In early February, a gas-line explosion demolished a 175-year-old
brick house on the property and the owner later agreed to sell the
land to the borough.
Located between West Ferry and West Bridge streets, the 7,100 square-foot
site was purchased by Bucks County and the borough for $260,000.
New Hope's share was $187,772, or 72 percent, with the county picking
up 28 percent of the total cost.
Borough officials say the property, which is adjacent to the New
Hope Ivyland railroad line on Stockton Avenue and at the edge of
a retail shopping district, is ideally suited for a park.
The commissioners' action took place during their bimonthly meeting,
held this month, at the county-owned Bucks County Horse Park in Nockamixon
Township.
