COUNTY OFFERS RESIDENT RIDER DISCOUNT AT
BUCKS COUNTY HORSE PARK
Commissioner Charles Martin watches a Polocross match at the Bucks
County Horse Park.
The Commissioners held their bimonthly meeting at the park on July 20.
Bucks County residents can ride their horses on Mondays for half
price at the Bucks County Horse Park in Nockamixon Township.
For $15, or half the cost of the standard $30 day pass fee, Bucks
residents have access to more than 30 miles of scenic trails on the
126-acre county-owned park. Day passes are limited to two per year,
except on Mondays.
The reduced (Monday) rate was recommended by the park's board of
trustees and confirmed by the county. Non-residents still are required
to pay a $35 (daily) fee.
Open from dawn to dusk, the park offers year-round memberships to
both residents and non-residents. The horse park was purchased last
year from Kurt and Barbara Schneider to be preserved as open space.
Since the county took over the park, the only change in the fee
structure is the addition of half-day rates and additional volunteer
hours used to offset the cost of memberships, according to Bill Mitchell,
county parks and recreation executive director.
The park is located on Route 611 between Revere and Ferndale. Further
information is available by calling 610-847-8597.
