Delaware River Flood Watch
Bucks County Emergency Management Agency was notified today by the
Delaware River Basin Commission to expect minor Delaware River flooding
in low lying areas of the county on Sunday, Oct. 9.
John Dougherty Jr., director of the county EMA, predicted flooding
will affect low lying areas of River Road, but not homes. The river
is expected to overflow its banks in a low lying area of Tinicum
Township about 8 a.m. Sunday. Low lying areas of River Road in Yardley
Borough and Upper Makefield will be affected about 8 p.m., Sunday.
All riverfront communities have been advised of this possibility
and are on a weekend flood watch. With 2 to 4-inches of rain predicted
for Bucks, the Delaware River is not expected to reach more than
19-feet, two-feet below flood stage, Dougherty said.
(The Neshaminy Creek, which is at a low level, should not be affected.)
