Proclamation Declares 2005 Bucks County Poet Laureate

The Bucks County Commissioners issued a proclamation honoring Patricia Goodrich as the 2005 Bucks County Poet Laureate.

Ms. Goodrich was picked from 66 entries received for the 2005 competition. Now in it's 29th year, Bucks County's poet laureate program is the longest running in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. The program is funded by the Bucks County Community College and administered by Dr. Allen Hoey.

Ms. Goodrich, a writer and visual artist from Richlandtown, has written five collections of poetry. She has been the recipient of fellowships and residencies in the United States, Lithuania and Russia. She holds a Bachelor of Arts from Western Michigan University and a Master of Arts from the University of Northern Colorado. Among other positions, Ms. Goodrich taught in the Central Bucks School district for 23 years.

The Board of Bucks County Commissioners commended Ms. Goodrich's outstanding contribution to the literary tradition of the community, the county and the world at large. All Bucks Countians are encouraged to look to her work for insight and inspiration.
