Bucks County to Hold Forums/Demonstrations of Choices for New Voting Systems

Bucks County officials, along with the League for Women Voters, will be holding two public forums/demonstrations to educate county residents and solicit their opinions on possible choices for new voting systems.

Bucks County is federally mandated by HAVA, the Help Americans Vote Act 2002, to replace the existing lever voting machines with a voting system approved for use by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

Forums are scheduled for:

  • Tuesday, January 17, 6:45 p.m.
Pennridge Central Middle School, 144 N. Walnut Street, Perkasie.
  • Wednesday, January 18, 6:45 p.m.
Neshaminy Middle School, 1200 Langhorne-Newtown Road, Langhorne.

The program will include short presentations from vendors about their products, question and answer period, and demonstrations of various systems to county residents. After testing a system, residents will be asked to submit their opinion by completing a form.

"Our joint goals for these public forums are that county residents have an impartial, orderly, meaningful, educational event,” said David M. Sanko, Bucks County chief operating officer, “With these new systems we want to make every effort for Bucks County voters to feel confident in both the ease of use and the sanctity of their vote.”
