Bucks County Recycles!
Bucks County residents continue to recycle at a steady pace, with the 2006 program for the disposal of household hazardous waste and old computers ready to launch.
Planner Lale Byers, who coordinates the county recycling program, provided details of the county’s past and present recycling effort during a commissioners’ meeting today at the Village Park Elementary School in Falls Township and also announced the upcoming collections.
He addressed the importance of not polluting the air, water or soil with hazardous materials and encouraged residents to utilize the county-run collections for the safe disposal of household products containing toxic chemicals, pesticides, oil-based paints, solvents, cleaning products, weed killers and automotive batteries.
The following events begin at 9 a.m. and close at 3 p.m. The program is not open to business, industry or institutions.
- May 20 – Lower Makefield Corporate Center, South, 770 Township Line Road, Yardley
- June 24 – Upper Bucks County Vo-Tech School, 3115 Ridge Road, Bedminster Twp.
- July 22 – Middle Bucks Institute of Technology, 2740 Old York Road, Warwick Twp.
- Aug. 12, Bucks County Tech. H.S., 640 Wistar Road, Bristol Township
- Sept. 30, Quakertown Community Pool , Mill Street, Quakertown
As many as three computers systems and up to 25 gallons or 220 pounds of hazardous materials per household may be collected at the above locations.
