Bucks County Information Services Continues Charity Drive

The County of Bucks Information Services Department continued their monthly “Blue Jeans for Charity Friday” July 21, collecting money and goods this month for a Marine Corp unit stationed in Iraq.

“Blue Jeans for Charity Friday” began in April as a way the department can show appreciation to its employees who work hard and deliver results to their various clients. Once a month on Friday, employees are asked to donate five dollars. In exchange, they get a free lunch and a more casual dress code. Information Services Senior Management pays for the lunch out of their pockets and the donations go completely to the charity group.

“We are impressed by the dedication of our Information Services employees to go beyond what is expected, and raise money for worthy causes,” said Commissioner Chairman James F. Cawley, Esq.

“This is a way for us to show our staff how valuable they are and how much the county appreciates what they do,” said Donald Jacobs, Chief Information Officer.

This month’s “Blue Jeans for Charity Friday” netted $55 in cash donations and over $75 in donated goods for the Information Services’ adopted troop, Marine Unit 43025, VMA-513 Powerline. This represents the second military group they have adopted. Proceeds from the second “Blue Jeans for Charity Friday,” held in May, went to the first group they adopted, 1 st Platoon, Bravo Group stationed in Mosul.

Other past charities include the Bucks County Human Services Special Needs Fund, which helps by offsetting unexpected costs to clients such as bus fare to an appointment, and Bucks for Kids, which helps underprivileged children.
