Bucks County Commissioners Celebrate Employee Recognition Day During Broad St. Block Party
Festive Picnic Atmosphere Frames Presentation of Annual Award for Excellence, Employee Service Milestone Awards

Employees Enjoy Employee Recognition Block PartyContinuing one of Bucks County government’s most-anticipated traditions, the Bucks County Commissioners James F. Cawley, Charles H. Martin and Sandra A. Miller, Chief Operating Officer David M. Sanko and President Judge David W. Heckler treated approximately 1,000 employees to a feast of hoagies, chips, soft-baked chocolate chip cookies and bottled water today.

Sanko opened the day’s events by expressing his thanks to all employees who serve the needs of the approximately 620,000 Bucks Countians every day.

The highlight of the annual ceremony – for which Broad St. is blocked off between Court and Mechanics streets - was the presentation of three Bucks County Award for Excellence plaques. A total of 14 nominations were submitted to the BEST Committee for consideration. BEST selected a final round from the nominees, and forwarded their recommendations to the commissioners for a final decision.

The 2006 recipients were Information Services trainer Randy Miller, purchasing mailroom clerk Chuck Stehlik and Department of Children and Youth protective supervisor Patricia Guldin.

Randy Miller Receiving Award for Excellence from the Commissioners, President Judge and COO“We applaud Randy for his initiative, his commitment and his unique ability to put others at ease in a constantly changing environment of technology,” Commissioner Miller said during her remarks, praising Mr. Miller for his “care, compassion and level-headed guidance.”

Introducing Stehlik was Commissioner Martin, who gently chided the awardee before lauding him for his “smiling and cheerful personality” and his “superior qualities” in all facets of mail distribution.

Commissioner Cawley feted Guldin as a “tireless worker whose energy is recognized daily by the five people under her supervision.”

Other specially recognized guests included those who this year mark their forty, thirty, and twenty-year anniversary with Bucks County. Those in attendance received special gifts from the commissioners to mark the auspicious occasion.

The commissioners also saluted the Pros and Cons for the team’s third consecutive Bucks County Softball League championship, while Heckler announced the winners of the first Larry J. Bish Memorial Award, which goes to the Bucks County Youth Center’s Counselor of the Year. Sharing the 2006 Bish Award were Jason Tumelty and Frank Holberg.
