Bucks County Children and Youth Agency to Sponsor Adoption Seminar
In honor of November’s designation as National Adoption Month, the Bucks County Children and Youth Social Service Agency will be hosting an adoption conference on November 4, 2006 at Warrington’s BuxMont Unitarian Universalist Fellowship, located at the intersection of Street Road and Rt. 611.
The conference, titled “Learning from Experience,” will showcase county social services, along with the offerings of many county adoption agencies.
A panel discussion with adult adoptees will focus on what experiences aided them as they were growing up, and also what could have been more helpful. Workshops will be offered on: trans-racial adoption, talking with adopted kids, and what adoptive parents need to know.
The keynote speaker will be Bob Hafetz, an adoptee who wrote about his journey of searching and finding his birth family in his book, “Not Remembered, Never Forgotten.”
A kids’ program will offer the opportunity for adopted children and their siblings to meet other children in similar situations. Children will be able to talk about adoption, work on projects and have fun with other adoptees.
