Bucks County Planning Commission to Host Three Quakertown Rail Analysis Meetings

Passenger rail service could be returning to Quakertown, and Bucks County officials are committed to exploring all aspects of that possibility.

The potential reactivation of passenger rail service of the Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority (SEPTA) regional rail line which runs from Lansdale to Quakertown will be discussed in depth during a series of upcoming meetings hosted by the Bucks County Planning Commission.

“The Quakertown Rail Analysis is a pivotal step in establishing an alternative mode of transportation along the Rte. 309 corridor, which is one of the busiest thoroughfares in our community,” said Bucks County Board of Commissioners Chairman James F. Cawley, Esq. “We urge members of the public to share their thoughts and visions about this exciting possibility.”

Bucks County planners, in cooperation with the Bucks County Transportation Management Authority (TMA) and the Montgomery County Planning Commission, will discuss planning currently underway for the Bethlehem branch of the SEPTA line at a series of public meetings scheduled for Tuesday, November 14, Wednesday, November 15 and Thursday, November 16. Each meeting will begin at 6 p.m. and will last approximately two hours. A formal presentation will be conducted at 6:30 p.m. of each meeting.

The meetings will be held at the following locations:

November 14
Hatfield Township Building
1950 School Road, Hatfield, PA 19440

November 15
Perkasie Borough Hall
620 West Chestnut Street, Perkasie, PA 18944

November 16
Quakertown Train Station
15 Front Street, Quakertown, PA 18951

Richard Brahler, Bucks County’s senior transportation planner, said interested citizens will be introduced to the planning efforts.

The meetings will include schematic displays as well as a public invitation to express comments and concerns to project staff. For more information, contact Richard Brahler, senior transportation planner, Bucks County Planning Commission, at 215-345-3427.
