Health Department Issues Flu Drill Instructions to Ensure a Smooth Event
Over 10,000 Doses Ready for Saturday's Pandemic Flu Drill (2006 Instructions)

In order to make certain that Bucks County residents planning on attending Saturday’s drill and receiving a free flu shot can easily make their way to the closest POD (point of distribution), the health department is issuing driving instructions. Also of importance is that any resident who is wheelchair or walker-dependent may choose to remain in their vehicles, and will be accommodated by POD staff. Those traveling with these residents should let a staff member know upon arrival to the POD, and they will be vaccinated in their vehicle, so long as they are medically eligible. This doesn’t apply to the lower Bucks site, as everyone will remain in their vehicles and receive a shot.

The county is asking residents to follow these simple driving instructions as they arrive at their POD this Saturday, November 18 between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m.:

Upper Bucks region:
Pennridge Central Middle School
144 Walnut Street , Perkasie, PA 18944
** Enter via Route 113. Follow signs and directions from line workers. Exit onto Route # 152.

Central Bucks region:
Council Rock High School South
2002 Rock Way , Holland, PA 18966
** Enter via Richboro Road onto Rock Way. Follow the signs and directions from line workers, and exit onto Holland Road.

Lower Bucks region(drive-in vaccine):
Lower Bucks Government Service Center
7321 New Falls Road, Levittown, PA 19055
** Only passenger vehicles will be allowed. Bring a pen. Enter from the driveway of the Lower Bucks Technical School via Wistar Road.. Follow the signs and directions from line workers along the driveway. Enter Fire Station #2. Exit via RIGHT TURN ONLY onto New Falls Road.

The county has received a complete order of over 10,000 doses of the shot and flu mist vaccines.

All residents nine years or older, who are medically eligible, can participate and receive influenza immunization during this drill. The Bucks County Health Department advises participants to dress in layers so that the upper arm/shoulder area can be easily exposed for the shot.

Those wishing to participate in the drill can click here and look for screening criteria that will be used to determine eligibility for the shot. For example, those allergic to eggs, or those who are moderately or seriously ill will not receive the vaccine. Pregnant women are allowed to receive the flu shot during any trimester, however, they cannot receive the flu mist intra-nasal vaccine at all during the pregnancy. The health department urges anyone uncertain about eligibility to check with their physician.
