Bucks County Health Department to Offer Free Flu-Shot Clinic, December 13, at Almshouse Road Office

As a follow-up to Bucks County’s highly successful Nov. 18 Pandemic Flu Drill, when 3,325 county residents received free influenza vaccinations under the context of a pandemic flu scenario, the Health Department will conduct a clinic, Wednesday, Dec. 13, from 9 a.m.-5 p.m., at 1282 Almshouse Rd. in Doylestown.

Commissioners’ Chairman Jim Cawley, who visited the Levittown drive-thru point of dispensing (POD) and emergency operations center during the Nov. 18 drill stated, “We appreciate the enormous participation on November 18, and hope those who couldn’t make it will take advantage of an additional day of free flu vaccine on December 13.”

According to Dr. Eleanor Travers, director of the county’s health department, all residents ages nine and older who have no health contraindications (such as an allergy to eggs or latex) will be eligible to receive a vaccination.

Those wishing to be inoculated can click here to look for screening criteria used to determine eligibility for the shot. In addition, those who are moderately or seriously ill will not receive the vaccine. The Health Department urges anyone uncertain about eligibility to check with their physician.
