Neshaminy Manor Kicks Off the Holiday Season
Neshaminy Manor, the county’s long-term care nursing facility, had a busy weekend of holiday celebrations.
Members of the Yardley VFW Post 6393 hosted a party on Saturday, Dec. 9 to brighten the holidays for resident veterans. Fifty-one residents who had served in the military were presented with a gift certificate and a VFW windbreaker, with the name and post embroidered on it. VFW members visited with each of the veterans,
even going to the individual units if the residents were unable to attend the party.
The “Wrapping Presence” organization came to the Manor and assisted 85 residents as they shopped free of charge in the holiday store. This enabled each resident to pick a gift to give to a friend or loved one. The gifts were then wrapped and placed in a hand-decorated
shopping bag and tagged. Each resident who participated received a holiday corsage, a wreath for their door and hugs and cookies from Santa. Many volunteers helped make this a special event.
Neshaminy Manor held three separate holiday parties for the residents and their families on Dec. 9 and 10. Hundreds attended each party where entertainment had everyone dancing in the aisles. Residents and their families across the generations enjoyed visiting with
Santa who along with Mrs. Claus and a merry elf, made their way throughout the units bringing cheer to all.
