Bucks County Commissioners Present Letter of Commendation to Retiring BCCD Secretary
Agricultural and Open-Space Preservation Pioneer Kenneth W. Bupp Lauded for Commitment to Conservation Issues

The Bucks County Board of Commissioners commended Bedminster Township’s Kenneth W. Bupp during the Dec. 13 meeting of the Bucks County Conservation District (BCCD) in Doylestown. Bupp, who has served as BCCD Board of Directors secretary for the last 10 years, is retiring from the board effective immediately.

“We applaud Ken for his record of distinguished service, and his overall commitment and dedication to this board,” said BCCD Commissioner Director Sandy Miller, who read and presented the letter of commendation on behalf of fellow commissioners Jim Cawley and Charley Martin.

Mr. Bupp, who remains active in the local farming community through ownership and management of the Penn Vermont Fruit Farm with his wife, Judith, is widely renowned for growing delicious peaches, strawberries, raspberries and blackberries. Upon presenting a plaque of appreciation to Mr. Bupp, BCCD Manager John Thomas singled out Penn Vermont’s annual peach crop as a particularly special addition to the district’s monthly board of director meetings.

“The biggest thing I got out of this was all the great people I got to work with,” Mr. Bupp told the board.

The commissioners also recognized the Bupp family as the third agricultural land owner to preserve a Bucks County farm, a 40.55-acre parcel in Bedminster the county purchased in 1991. The commissioners added that, as a member of the county Agricultural Preservation Board, Mr. Bupp brought attention to “ to issues of national, state and local importance relating to the preservation of farming and farmland, other open space, and preservation of our communities and quality of life.”
