Neshaminy Manor, Bucks County’s long-term care nursing home, opened in 2000.  The 360-bed facility is located south of Almshouse Road on Route 611 (Easton Rd.) in Warrington (Doylestown Township).

Bucks County Commissioners’ Chairman Charles H. Martin stated, “We are appreciative of Rep. O’Neill and his fellow representatives for recognizing the importance of this quality-of-life-enhancing project. The garden project will make a great addition for our residents.”

The Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED) grant was secured by Rep. Bernie O’Neill for partial funding of design and construction work for the garden courtyard.

"I'm very happy to be able to secure this grant on behalf of my fellow state legislators, Rep. David Steil, Rep. Gene DiGirolamo, Rep. Kathy Watson, Rep. Marguerite Quinn, Rep. Paul Clymer and Rep. Scott Petri," O'Neill commented. "We're proud to take part in this project to improve the quality of life for all current and future Neshaminy Manor residents."

Kathy Bates, recreation director, says the project’s scope includes rejuvenating the courtyard through the addition of shade trees, a large patio replacing the grassy area for ease of mobility, and seating areas. She says the plan has been in the works for four years. The DCED grant will help move things forward, she notes, and has been earmarked for use in the initial phase of the project.

The “Gardens at the Manor” project is being organized by a volunteer, non-profit “Foundation at the Manor” board, formed to help enrich the facility through presentation of arts and cultural exhibitions, and creation of beautification projects such as the garden.
