Commissioners Join League of Women Voters in Reminding All Registered Voters to Vote on Tax Reform Ballot Question

With Primary Day less than two weeks away, the Bucks County Commissioners and their partner in voter education, the League of Women Voters, want to remind all registered voters to vote on the tax reform ballot question on Tuesday May 15.  There is a special reminder for voters registered to any party other than Democratic or Republican, that although they cannot participate in the selection of party nominees, they can still vote on ballot questions at the polls on May 15.

The Pennsylvania Special Session Act 1, passed in 2006, required each school district to form a Local Tax Study Commission to make recommendations on a shift from property taxes to local income taxes. Voters will be deciding whether to support the recommended changes. For additional information on the ballot question in your area, contact your local school district.  Every municipality will feature a ballot question.

The commissioners also encourage voters to review the simple steps to vote on the new voting machines.  Last fall's inaugural election was executed flawlessly as a result of strong voter education and participation.  “We are again making the demonstration video available to everyone on our website, (voter education) , as well as live demonstrations at the Bucks County Courthouse in Doylestown, and at the lower Bucks Government Service Center,” noted Commissioner Chairman Charley Martin.  With over 5,000 newly registered voters, as well as those who did not vote on the new machines in November, the commissioners note it’s imperative to know where those resources can be found.

The League of Women Voters reminds all voters that they must press the green VOTE button at the bottom right-hand corner of the machine to register their vote before leaving the booth.
