Bucks County Commissioners Award Public Works Contracts for Upper Bucks Government Services Center, District Court
General Contracting and Other Resolutions Total $4.093 Million for Work to Begin Early This Summer in Richland Twp.
Continuing Bucks County government’s dramatic trend of moving forward on an unprecedented list of Public Works projects, the Board of Bucks County Commissioners today approved six resolutions for construction of two buildings in Richland Twp. Both buildings will be erected in the 1300 block of California Rd.
One, the Upper Bucks Government Service Center, will replace the current building at 515 South West End Blvd., where the Commissioners’ Office of Public Information provides residents with comprehensive services such as passport applications, concealed weapons permits and dog licenses. The building also will house Health Department offices, both administrative and clinical, Adult Probation and Parole, and Military Affairs.
The other building, District Court 07-2-05, will house the chambers of the Hon. C. Robert Roth.
“We are excited to move these projects to this important step in the process,” said Commissioner Chairman Charles H. Martin. “Both of these facilities will afford county employees and judges the opportunity to serve the taxpayers in an efficient, professional manner for years to come.”
Commissioners Martin, James F. Cawley, Esq., and Sandra A. Miller awarded the general contract for both buildings to Warminster’s Magnum, Inc. The Magnum contract totals $2.967 million for both footprints.
In addition, the commissioners awarded a $164,400 plumbing contract to Fisher Mechanical, Inc. of Horsham, a $476,000 mechanical construction contract to NB. Rodgers, Inc. of Gibertsville, PA, a $290,250 electrical contract with Reel Electric, Inc. of Warminster, and a $196,000 fire protection contract with ABJ Sprinkler Co., Inc. of Glassboro, NJ.
County Chief Operating Officer David M. Sanko detailed the county’s process for awarding the contracts, which included a bid process. Public Works Director Joe Bush said construction will commence early this summer, with a projected completion date of spring 2008.
“We expect to have a groundbreaking in a matter of weeks,” Sanko noted, adding that both facilities will be financed by bond proceeds.
The county commissioners held their bi-monthly meeting today at the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 245 in Sellersville.
