Commissioners Urge Caution From Area Seniors During Heat Watch
Area Agency on Aging, Senior Centers Are Available for Assistance
The National Weather Service has issued an Excessive Heat Watch for Bucks County for the afternoon and evening of Wednesday, June 27. An Excessive Heat Watch is a period of hot, humid weather, resulting in dangerous conditions.
Free fans are available to eligible senior residents of Bucks County (age 60+) who do not currently have a fan or air conditioner. Seniors can call the Area Agency on Aging at 215-348-0510 for help during extreme heat periods.
The Bucks County AAA advises seniors that extreme hot weather can cause serious heat stroke or heat exhaustion. The best precaution is to remain indoors with an air-conditioner or in a ventilated room with a fan. Unless restricted, drink plenty of non-alcoholic beverages to prevent dehydration. If you are experiencing symptoms such as faintness, dizziness, nausea, weakness, heavy sweating, etc., CONSULT A PHYSICIAN.
The public is encouraged to check in on elderly neighbors and family members. You may also visit any of the 13 Senior Community Centers located throughout the county. For more information or assistance during the heat watch, call the numbers listed below:
