Commissioners Approve Emergency Contract To Expedite Repair Of County Bridge No. 223

During their Aug. 15 bi-monthly meeting at the Middletown Grange Fair No. 684, Bucks County Commissioners Charles H. Martin, chairman, James F. Cawley, Esq., and Sandra A. Miller unanimously approved a $64,500 emergency contract with Warrington’s Carroll Engineering. The Public Works contract includes provisions for engineering services and contract management for reconstruction of County Bridge No. 223, which spans Gallow Run Creek on Old Easton Rd. in Nockamixon Twp.

“This contract will allow us to fast-track the bridge’s return to service,” explained Chairman Martin. “We are looking forward to having it open again, just as we strive to maintain the quality of each one of our county-owned bridges.”

According to Bill Mitchell, acting director of Public Works, the Carroll contract will allow engineers to formulate an exact estimate of the costs associated with reconstructing the bridge.

“The emergency contract status also will help expedite the permit process from the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) and PennDOT,” noted Commissioner Cawley.
