Commissioners Approve $22.7 Million for Mental Health/Mental Retardation (Mh/Mr) Programs
Annual Funding to Support 24 Different Service Providers

For the third consecutive bi-monthly meeting, the Board of Bucks County Commissioners approved a substantial block of Human Services funding. Following on the heels of large allocations to the Area Agency on Aging and Children and Youth, Chairman Charles H. Martin, James F. Cawley, Esq., and Sandra A. Miller today unanimously approved $22.7 million for 24 Mental Health/Mental Retardation (MH/MR) service providers during their meeting at Solebury Twp.’s Audubon Society.

“These contracts illustrate the diversity of options available to residents who are aided by our MH/MR community,” Chairman Martin noted. “They include developmental training, supervised living and support, and case management.”

The largest of the 24 contracts was a $6.65 million, one-year agreement with Delta Community Supports to provide respite care and supervised and supported living services. The allocations also included a $3.18 million contract with Penn Foundation for Mental Health of Sellersville, which will provide supported living, case management and rehabilitation services. On hand to amplify on the contracts was Joe Funk, acting director of Human Services.

Human Services comprise the largest portion of the 2007 Bucks County budget, totaling more than $222 million. For more information about the county’s MH/MR programs, please click here.
