Commissioner Martin prepares to swing a giant racket against a giant tennis ball thrown by Scooby Doo at the Core Creek Park Tennis Court ribbon cuttingDuring a festive early afternoon ceremony Oct. 7, Bucks County Commissioners Charles H. Martin, chairman, James F. Cawley, Esq., and Sandra A. Miller joined county Executive Director of Parks William Mitchell to cut the ceremonial ribbon on the beautifully renovated Core Creek Park Tennis Complex.

“We are thrilled to open this sparkling new facility, which represents a fine addition to our wide array of Bucks County Parks and Recreation offerings,” Commissioner Martin said after wielding a giant tennis racquet as part of the sun-splashed event. “This project provided excellent value for the taxpayers, as well.”

Ribbon Cutting with the Bucks County Commissioners, members of the Parks and Rec Board and Staff. The courts, which lie within clear viewing distance of Woodbourne Rd. and the Neshaminy School District’s Maple Point Middle School, had fallen into disrepair during recent years. To address that situation, the commissioners, Chief Operating Officer David M. Sanko and Mitchell, entered into a $461,000 contract with Chalfont-based contractor S&H Landscaping to renovate the facility. That action took place during the commissioners’ June 20 meeting. Less than four months later, tennis enthusiasts have a special place to play the game inside the 1,200-acre, county-owned Core Creek Park.
