Bucks County Commissioners Introduce Government Access Television Programming
Agreement with Comcast to Provide 28 Weekly Hours of County Information
Taking another step to provide the most comprehensive information about Bucks County government and the many services it provides, Commissioners Charles H. Martin, chairman, James F. Cawley, Esq., and Sandra A. Miller announced the launch of Bucks County Channel 96 during today’s bi-monthly meeting in the courthouse community room.
Bucks County Channel 96, which will feature announcements dedicated to the commissioners and their public initiatives, emergency services, parks and recreation, capital projects, health and human services and open space, also will include county “happenings” and fun, informative facts about Bucks County’s rich history. The programming will be presented for a total of 28 hours weekly, including:
- WEEKDAYS: Noon-1 p.m.; 4-6 p.m.; 11 p.m.-Midnight
WEEKENDS: 7-11 p.m.
“Bucks County Channel 96 represents another arrow in our informational quiver, adding to our state-of-the-art web site, public information outreach, and public meeting schedule,” Chairman Martin noted. “We plan to utilize it as a constantly evolving tool to provide the most up-to-date news possible to the people of Bucks County.”
Commissioner Cawley stressed the emergency service capabilities of Bucks County Channel 96, observing that it will be an extremely valuable communication vehicle in the event of a disaster of any type. “We are excited to move forward in our electronic-media efforts,” Cawley added. “Channel 96, combined with our ongoing 911 communications’ upgrades, will help us maximize our ability to notify the public about many different situations.”
Commissioner Miller pointed to the versatility of Bucks County Channel 96, which also will be available for 24-hour viewing on the county website, www.BucksCounty.org. “We are certain Channel 96 will be a valuable tool for our residents,” she said.
