30-Year Employee Appointed As Children and Youth Director
Acting Director Lynne Rainey, LSW Takes Top Leadership Role with Agency

This morning, the Board of Bucks County Commissioners appointed former Children and Youth Social Services Agency Acting Director Lynne Rainey, LSW, as C&Y’s director.  For 30 years, Rainey has been dedicated to social work casework and management, working with children in need of foster care and adoption services. She has taken on progressively responsible positions within the county, including caseworker, social worker, social work supervisor, social work manager, and most recently, acting director, a position that sees Rainey responsible for over 180 staff.

The Bucks County Children and Youth Social Services Agency is responsible under Pennsylvania Public Law to receive and investigate reports of child abuse and neglect, provide for the temporary care of children not able to remain with their own families and develop community-wide social service programs that promote family stability, a charge to which Rainey is committed deeply.

“When dealing with issues of such gravity as C&Y does every day, it was important to the commissioners to appoint someone who has a substantial combination of leadership experience and practical knowledge,” noted Chairman Charles H. Martin.  “Lynne has exhibited both abundantly, and we therefore are thrilled to announce her appointment today.”

Active in her field at the state level, Rainey currently serves on the Southeastern PA Five County Program Committee for Children and Youth, and in the past has served on the PA Office of Children, Youth and Families Task Force for Revision of Administrative and Program Regulations, the PA Child Welfare Practice Standards Project, Bucks County Fire Pac, and the Bucks County Behavioral Health Services Consumer and Family Advisory Board, among many others.

She holds both her Master’s and Bachelor’s of Social Work from Temple University, and is a Perkasie resident. She enjoys an active family life, and is a parent of two teenagers.
