Former Commissioner Sandra A. Miller Elected Community Member & Chair Of Bucks County Prison Oversight Board

During today’s meeting of the Bucks County Prison Oversight Board, former Commissioner Sandra A. Miller was elected to appointments both as a community member and 2008 chair of the board. In that capacity, she will continue in the leadership role she filled during both 2006 and 2007. Bucks County Sheriff Edward “Duke” Donnelly again will serve as vice-chair, and county Controller Ray McHugh will remain as secretary of the board. Miller replaces Michael Gallagher as a community member.

Commissioner Charles H. Martin nominated Miller for both appointments, which drew a nearly unanimous vote of approval from a board that also includes Commissioner James F. Cawley, Esq., Commissioner Diane M. Ellis-Marseglia, LCSW, President Judge David W. Heckler, Chief Probation Officer Sean Ryan, Public Defender Stephen Shantz, and community members Walter Stevens and Karen Dopson. Commissioner Ellis-Marseglia abstained from both Miller votes during her initial Prison Oversight Board meeting.

The Bucks County Prison Oversight Board meets once a month, typically at 1:30 p.m. on the second Thursday.
