Warming Hearts on a “Chili” Day
Bucks County Commissioner Jim Cawley Works with Meals on Wheels Program

Commissioner Cawley Preparing FoodSince becoming Bucks County Commissioner in 2005, Jim Cawley has spent time working hands on with various departments to fully appreciate their roles within county government. Yesterday, he worked with the staff and volunteers at the Bensalem Senior Center’s Meals on Wheels program.

Commissioner Cawley was put to work assembling a hot meal of chili, rice and vegetables for the homebound. He then helped deliver meals to 24 residences in the Bensalem area. The Bensalem center distributes approximately 100 meals a day.

“I commend the AAA and its volunteers for the selfless work they do on behalf of Bucks County seniors,” said Commissioner Cawley. “It was humbling for me to be a part of what is an incredibly vital program for so many of our seniors.”

Commissioner Calwey unloading foodThe Bensalem Senior Center is one of 10 locations throughout Bucks County where Meals on Wheels are assembled and delivered to senior residents. This is a free program administered by the Bucks County Area Agency on Aging. Monday through Friday, approximately 875 meals are delivered throughout Bucks County to those in need.
