Bucks County Commissioner Diane M. Ellis-Marseglia Featured At League Of Women Voters “Exceptional Women” Series

Bucks County Commissioner Diane M. Ellis-Marseglia was featured today as the inaugural speaker of the “Exceptional Women of Bucks County” series offered by the League of Women Voters of Bucks County (LWVBC).   Commissioner Ellis-Marseglia, of Middletown Township, discussed open government and open records to the audience who gathered in the Pearl S. Buck Room of the Doylestown Library.

“When government is fully accessible and open in every way, trust is established,” the commissioner stated. “As people’s confidence in their elected officials and government, in general, improves, they are more willing to volunteer, provide constructive feedback, and feel invested in the difficult long-term decisions that need to be made.”

Ellis-Marseglia is a long-time, firm believer in the strength of a community being directly related to the amount of transparency between government and its residents.  She answered questions about her experience in the first 78 days as county commissioner, and about her goals for the next several years.

Marseglia engaged in a discussion with the attendees on a number of topics, including the LWVBC support of the Holt Bill that calls for reimbursement to counties who replace electronic voting machines with those that have a voter verified paper system.
